Riassunto:This study of exegetical theories of the later Neoplatonic commentators on Plato's Dialogues argues that the commentaries of Proclus and other figures of the 5th - 6th centuries A.D., as well as being valuable sources for later Platonic thought, provide a rich body of theoretical insights into recurrent questions of literary interpretation. The author begins with a survey of the various traditions of ancient literary theory and then considers the contributions of Proclus and others to an elucidation of the following theoretical problems & mimesis, unity and organicism.
