It is in this light that Professor Frend discusses the history of Donatism from its forerunners in Tertullian and Cyprian to its decline in the years after the struggle with Augustine. First published in 1962, the book is now reissued for the second time (it has been unavailable since 1976) with a new preface and an extended bibliography.
