Riassunto:Over most of the North African economy the means of production had changed rather less than is sometimes assumed. In the period of the high empire, at least, the conflicts and contradictions in the society had not yet emerged. The attempts to locate a proto-feudal system this early are mistaken. Even as late as the Vandal period, and in spite of a Roman legalistic framework, the chage is to some extent illusory
