'Epicureanism in the Confessions of St. Augustine'

Augustine's reading of Cicero and Lucretius led him to agree with certain teachings of Epicurus, but he included Epicurean material in the Confessions in such a way as to demonstrate that it and the other great pagan philosophies are reconciled in the Christian faith.
